Alembic Import/Export (Windows OS only)

Objective

Import/Export the object, cache, normal, and animation data contained within an Alembic file.

Windows OS only. (Mac OSX is not supported)

Location

  • Alembic Import:
    Main Menu → File → Import → Alembic

  • Alembic Export:
    Main Menu → File → Export → Alembic (HDF5) / Alembic (OGAWA)

Operation

Import

  1. Find and click the menu indicated in Location.
    → The File Explorer or Finder window will appear.

  2. Navigate to the desired file, then press OK.
    → The Import window will appear.

  3. Select from the settings available, then press OK.
    → The file is imported according to the settings applied:

    FPS

    Sets the frame rate of the cache data.

    ScaleInput the scale directly or select from the available units.
    Garment PositionMove Garment to Start PositionMoves the Garment to the location of the first frame. (v. 2.5.0)



Export

  1. Find and click the menu indicated in Location.
    → The Save window will appear.

  2. Select a file Location and input a name, then click OK.
    → The Export Alembic window will appear.

  3. Select from the settings available, then press OK.
    → The file is exported according to the settings applied:

    Unweld

    Exports the Vertex (points of the mesh) of the parts of the pattern

    that are sewn together into one line into multiple objects.

    ※ Thickness exports for quad meshes available beginning version 2.3.0. (ver 2.3.0)

     Weld 

    Combines the Vertex (points of the mesh) of the parts of the pattern

    that are sewn together into one line into one point.

     

    Weld Selected Pattern: Weld based on the sewing line that connects the selected patterns.

    Thin

    Ensures that the thickness will not be exported even if the

    rendering thickness value is increased beforehand.

    Thick 

    Exports a pattern with its rendering thickness values in

    its increased state.

     

    Combined UV Coordinates: Exports all Garment Pattern texture data fit to UV Coordinates ranging from 0 to 1.

    Include Avatar Shape: Save the Avatar as part of the file.

    FPS

    Sets the frame rate of the cache data.

    Step

    Adds/Subtracts frames for the recorded Animation according to the entered value.

    Frame Relative Sample

    Sets the low and high values for frame relative sampling.

    ScaleAdjusts the scale of the file being exported when a value is entered or the desired unit from “Unit in file to import” is selected.
